dskprobe.exe is a sector editor available for Windows NT and Windows 2000. dskprobe can be used to examine, modify, and save changes to the MBR and parititon tables. A tool of last resort for experienced admins or for experienting with test disks. If you are one of the hardy souls who use this tool, beware that the Windows NT version is not FAT32 compatible. It allows you view and edit the fat32 sector but it damages the sector that is saved (and chkdsk can not fix it). For Windows 2000 FAT32 sector editing, be sure to only use the version that is included on the Windows 2000 CD-ROM or in the Microsoft Windows 2000 Resource Kit. Documentation for diskprobe is on the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.
