Windows 2000's LSA manages local security policy, provides user authenication services, and manages audit policy and settings. The DLLs that make up Windows 2000's Local Security Authority are:
- msv1_0.dll : NTLM authenication protocol support
- netlogon.dll : manages secure channel to DC. Used by msv1_0.dll
- kdcsvc.dll : Kerberos KDC server service
- kerberos.dll : Kerberos v5 authenication protocol support
- schannel.dll : Secure Sockets Layer SSL authentication protocol support
- secur32.dll : multiple authentication provider (means ??)
- lsasrv.dll : LSA server service
- samsrv.dll : supports legacy APIs, enforces stored policies
- ntdsa.dll : Directory Service module that supports LDAP and manages partitions of data
