Registry Tip #50: Remove/Restore Dial-up Networking Icon

Hits: Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3

Use the following to Remove and later Restore Dial-up Networking Icon in Windows NT.

When you check My Computer, you should no longer have a Dial-Up Networking icon. If the icon is still visible, restart the computer. You can still use all your dial-up connections, but without the icon you can't add or delete connections.

To Restore the Dial-Up Networking icon, run DialUpIcon.reg. You may need to restart your computer to see the icon.

Spend a lot of time on the Internet via a modem and you lose track of how long you've been connected. Double-click on the icon that looks like little monitors located on the taskbar. The message box will tell you the Duration time, that is, the amount of time the current connection has been active. Note: If you're connected via LAN, this icon won't appear on your taskbar because it's a modem-only icon.
