www.fixwindows.com has a page with links to manufacturer's support phone numbers and a couple of good Windows NT troubleshooting flowcharts. They have a few user oriented tips. Lets hope they expand their flowchart section which is the unique value of this site. unfortunately the site seems to be the net now

Microsoft has a Troubleshooting and Diagnostics whitepaper aimed at NT administrators (50+ pages) which you read online or print.

Whatever your operating system, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP or some type of unix, if you are having problems installing, simplify the hardware - remove everything from your system except for : the video card, 1 stick of RAM, 1 HD, and 1 CDROM. If the install goes well, and it will almost certainly do so - add the components back 1 at a time. This process will reveal the problem component (usually).
