User Tip #106: Access Windows NT NTFS file system from DOS, Win95 or Win98

Hits: Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3

Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cosgwell at www.sysinternals.com have released several useful freeware or inexpensive utilities useful to users and administrators of Windows NT. In particular, they have a free read-only driver that is able to mount NTFS drives for transparent access. It makes NTFS drives appear indistinguishable from standard FAT drives, providing the ability to navigate, view and execute programs. This is useful in a dual-boot environment and in recovery situations. If you need to write to the NTFS partition, there is a version with that capability that can be purchased.

It goes without saying that this driver is a wonderful way to hack an Windows NT box. I have used it as a basic tool to break Windows NT server security when all admin-level accounts get locked out or lost.

A must have utility for Windows NT administrators.
