How to get NT to automatically run applications when it starts up? This is a fundamental capability which tipsters tend to not list because they assume it as background knowledge that everyone already knows. If you are new to windows, click on Start/Programs/Startup. Whatever is in the startup folder get started everytime you login. There is a startup folder in every person's profile. If you share a PC with others, each person has his/her own startup folder. There is also a global startup folder that runs applications when anyone logs in. The profiles are folders (directories) under the c:\winnt folder (assuming standard installation practices). If you use Explorer, you will see your folder, folders for whoever else logs onto the PC, and the All Users folder. You can use drag and dropping applications to modify your desktop, startup and other folders. An easier approach is to right-click Start, select Open, select Program, and then select Startup folder.
If you decide its time to uninstall an application, try Start |Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Applications | Install/Uninstall tab . If its there, the application registered an uninstall program. Double-click on the application you want to uninstall. If its not in the Install/Uninstall list, check the application folder for an uninstall program, Start | Programs | theapplicationtoremove.
