Windows NT workstation supports Volume Sets. You can combined unused space on different partitions and even different hard disks into a volume set which looks and acts like a single large drive. Lets say you have three 2GB hard drives. You used 1GB on the first HD for NT. You want to have all the rest of the space show up as drive D:. Use a volume set.
To create a volume set using the above configuration in the example:
Login with workstation admin privileges
Start Disk Administrator
Click on the unpartitioned area on the first drive, hold down the Ctrl key and select the unpartitioned areas on the 2nd and 3rd drives.
From the Partition menu select Create Volume Set
When the dialog box displays, choose the size of the partition to be created.
Click OK and select Commit Changes Now
Reboot and format the new drive as NTFS
If you add a hard drive and want to extend the volume set to include the new drive,
Login with workstation admin privileges
Start Disk Administrator
Click on the existing volume set and holding down the Ctrl key, select the unpartitioned area on the new drive(s).
From the Partition menu select Extend Volume Set
Click OK and select Commit Changes Now
Reboot. It will take longer since NT will be formatting the new space added to the volume set.
Want to delete the volume set? Delete it like any partition.
