PC Magazine is a rich resource for useful freeware utilities. IconLock If you are tired of windows changing your desktop layout, IconLock gives you control. PCMag states support for Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. My workstation is a dual-boot Windows NT and Windows 2000. I use IconLock on both desktops. I don't use it as a security utility although it has capabilities, particularly for shared desktops.

I use the Active Desktop under Windows NT and it does require it for certain features as well as the installation of IE.
