User Tip #36: Your fonts are messed up

Hits: Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3

Your fonts are messed up. What to do? What to do? NT fonts are stored in the winnt\fonts directory. Each different true type font will be a file with the .TTF extension. If you have access to another NT workstation (or Win95), you can copy the corrupted or changed font from your buddies PC to yours. Lets say the ARIAL font is messed up. Opps, on my PC there are the following ARIAL fonts/files:

Whats BD, BI, I, N, NB, NBI, I ? Using Font applet in Control Panel, which lists my available fonts, I see Arial, Arial Black, Arial Black Italic, Arial Bold, Arial Bold Italic, Arial Italic, Arial Narrow, Arial Narrow Bold, Arial Narrow Bold Italic, and Arial Narrow Italic. Doesn't quite match. If you change the view to details instead of large icons (my default view), you see that Arial Black is ARIBLK.TTF, Arial Black Italic is ARIBLI__.TTF, ... Using the detail view, its easy to match the font/file name conbination so you know what file to copy. The other problem is that except in extremely controlling environments, any particular PC will have a grab bag of fonts depending on what applications have been installed on it. Probably why you are doing this exercise in the first place.

Good Luck!
