marital crisis unfolds : Diane Lane plays Pearl Kantrowitz on a vacation in the Catskills with her TV repairman husband Marty (Liev Schreiber) and 2 kids. At that time, before air conditioning was widely available, the dads would come down for the weekend from the city and the family would spend the summer somewhere where it is cooler. While her husband is away on business, Pearl flirts with a hippie salesman who offers the adventure and passion that Pearl sacrificed to young pregnancy and marriage.

This is either one of Woody Allen's best or worst movies and it seems to mostly depend on where you are in life stages. I thought it was engrossing. Acting was fabulous. No humor which is unfortunate but there are plently of people in these situations, and humor helps one get through very difficult times. You will either get it, or not. Enjoy it or not.

Wonderfully evocative recreation of the 1950s when sex was a real taboo topic. Its the story of 14 year old Lenny whose major goal for the summer is to see a couple having sex. He begins to snoop on the attractive nurse on the block and learns more than he ever expected. Its very funny. One forgets just how innocent and ignorant a young person in the 50s could be. The movie has real life lessons as Lenny learns some harsh truths about his adored deceased dad, hated step dad, and wonderful uncle.

Indie-film about a day as Burnzy, WWII vet. spends his 75th birthday at neighborhood bar which has a wide selection of customers. Character film.

A mainstream hit. A realistic portrait of mid-life crisis. A must see.

Yes, its a teenage film building to the graduation prom, but its handling of sexual obsession with male virginity is hilarous. Real belly laughs. Decent nudity. Great one liners.

two teenage daughters in a small trailer in the middle of nowhere - older daughter, rebelling, not attending school, promiscuous, banging heads against mom - younger daughter trying to find guy for her mother while looking for her father. Actually a very well acted film all around.

prep school girls discovering their sexuality - well at least modern version of "in search of orgasm". It is often advertised as "an American Pie for teenage girls". Maybe. Problem is, American Pie is hilarious whereas this is NOT. But then I am not a teenage girl.

Acting by the excellent cast is top notch. Unfortunately its a downer. Its listed as a dark comedy. It is but I really enjoy Clair Danes. Kieran Cukin is great! rich kid, screwed up, trying to find his way. Has flavor of someone's real life. Kieran Culkin of Cider House Rules, Claire Danes of "My So Called Life" fame, Jeff Goldblum, Jared Harris, Susan Sarandon.

self-discovery flick: Geena Davis as a pregnant woman deciding whether to get married to the father. At same time she begins a search for her missing mother.

James Garner and Joanne Woodward play a middle-aged couple on their one-day detour-filled odyssey to a friend's funeral.

Easily one of the best movies I have ever seen. About friendship among four 12 year old boys on a walking expedition to find a missing boy's body. Its a Rob Reiner film based on "The body" by Steven King. Perhaps the best River Phoenix film. Contains the funniest scene I have ever seen (pies). I recommend it for its coverage of a magical time in some boys lives.
