Warren Schmidt (Jack Nicholson) is newly retired. He and his wife Helen have big plans to see America in a big RV. Then she dies. OK. Retired, doesn't know what to do with himself and with his wife dead, doesn't know how to take care of himself. A real voyage of self-discovery. Kathy Bates stars as the mother of his future son-in-law. No leave it to beaver families in this film. Great acting. It is definitely not a film that many under 40 will understand or appreciate. It is about loss which is a part of life. A must see!

Mary-Louise Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes) in a wonderful ensemble piece. Several lives unfold. Really wonderful film. Fair amount of self inflicted pain. Life.

follows a company of airborne infantry from boot camp through the end of the WWII. Stories based from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as soldiers' journals and letters, Band of Brothers chronicles the experiences of these men who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear.

Strange Relations (2001)
Showtime presentation with Paul Reiser and Olympia Dukakis. Reiser plays a successful jewish NY psychiatrist who discovers he has leukemia, that he is adopted, that he is not jewish but is english; has two brothers, one who is an addict; is an uncle to a couple of neat kids, ... Drama - lots: will he find a compatible donor? Wonderful acting. If you can get a copy, its well worth watching.

The 28 days are 28 days in rehab. Fab story. Someone's true story. Upbeat.

A true story. An amazing story. Only in football country. Denzel Washington ( , , , , , , ) just gets better and better.

Robert Sean Leonard plays a gay man in his early 20s who returns to the home of his affluent parents in upstate New York, dying from AIDS and wishing to spend his final months with his family. While his mother (Glenn Close) responds with care and compassion with the help of a live-in nurse (Whoopi Goldberg), his father (David Strathairn) is unable to accept his son's sexual orientation, much less his inevitable death. His sister (Bridget Fonda) is equally confused and detached from the family. If you can handle the sadness, this is a movie well worth viewing. Its basically a Glenn Close and Robert Leonard dialogue as mother and son get closer and closer until death separates them. A story being played out in its many variations all too frequently and will continue into the forseeable future. The movie was directed by Christopher Reeve after his accident. The was haunting.

The Holocaust up close and personal. If you haven't read the book or seen the film, you are have missed an essential experience.

Certainly the best play I have ever seen. Only 4 people appear in the movie but its absolutely riveting! Starring: Joanne Woodward and John Malkovich with Paul Newman directing. Joanne Woodard and Paul Newman are also excellent in
who are a clean-cut Kansas City couple challenged by a changing world, transition from the depression into WWII. A different time, a different world.

Picked it up at Blockbuster July 2001. Easily one of the best movies I have ever seen. About friendship among four 12 year old boys on a walking expedition to find a missing boy's body. Its a Rob Reiner film based on "The body" by Steven King. Perhaps the best River Phoenix film. Contains the funniest scene I have ever seen (pies). I recommend it for its coverage of a magical time in some boys lives.
