When you start Windows 2000 Explorer, the My Documents folder is displayed by default. If you want to change the default view so that the default system drive (the drive where Windows 2000 is installed) is displayed:

• Click Start, point to Programs, and then point to Accessories.
• Right-click Windows Explorer, and then click Properties.
• In the Target box, type %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n,/e
• Click OK.

To change the default to My Computer :

• Click Start, point to Programs, and then point to Accessories.
• Right-click Windows Explorer, and then click Properties.
• In the Target box, type
  %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
  Cut and paste this text rather than trying to type it in correctly.
• Click OK.

If you are a command-line type person, the commandline switches are:

  EXPLORER.EXE [/n][/e][,/root,<object>][[,/select],<sub object>] 

  Switches

  /n:  Opens a new window in single-paned (My Computer) view for each item
       selected, even if the new window duplicates a window that is
       already open.

  /e:  Uses Windows Explorer view. Windows Explorer view is most similar
       to File Manager in Windows version 3.x. Note that the default view
       is Open view.

  /root,<object>:  Specifies the root level of the specified view. The
                   default is to use the normal namespace root (the
                   desktop). Whatever is specified is the root for the
                   display.

  /select,<sub object>:  Specifies the folder to receive the initial
                         focus. If "/select" is used, the parent folder
                         is opened and the specified object is selected.
