NT has a DOS-like command shell which emulates DOS. It is a very good emulation. A good online reference for dos commands can be found at:

Tim Hill's text on command line scripting, Windows NT Shell Scripting , is outstanding. If you have an extensive background writing batch files, forget it. Otherwise, get it.
