Admin Tip #248: Win95 & WFW Cause Network Neighborhood Domain Browser Problems

Hits: Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3

If you have a mix and Win95, WFW, and NT workstations in multiple domains, your users may experience problems with network neighborhood browsing. If a WFW and Win95 client wins a segments browser election, the workstations in that segment will not show up in the domain network neighborhood listing. A workgroup made up entirely of Win95 and WFW clients will not show up in NTs Network Neighborhood. To prevent these problems, set the WFW and Win95 to not be a browser server. For WFW clients, add MaintainServerList=no to the [network] section of system.ini. For Win95 clients, set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP\MaintainServerList and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP\Ndi\Params\MaintainServerList to 0.
